A mod chip is a device that is added to the internal hardware of a video games console in
order to increase its functionality. This means that the changes to the hardware allow you to use the console for things it wasn't originally designed for.More than a dozen chips exist for the Xbox, but in general they all offer similar features. All existing Xbox mod chips require opening the Xbox in order to install the chip. This means the console will no longer be under warranty.
